Historical context. This page preserves the scope of the former Language Network for Quality Assurance and has been rewritten for clarity, accessibility and ongoing educational use. It should not be read as a statement from the former consortium.
The original LanQua work was divided into five thematic sub-projects. The relaunch keeps those same five areas because together they describe a coherent view of language education in higher education.
Intercultural communication
Communication across linguistic and cultural contexts, including knowledge, skills, attitudes and assessment.
Language teacher education
Preparation, practice, reflection and assessment for teachers of languages.
Content and language integrated learning (CLIL)
Approaches that connect subject-content learning with deliberate language development.
Literature and culture
Literary and cultural learning as part of language education and intercultural understanding.
Language learning
Language development for specialists, non-specialists, mobility, instruction and lifelong learning.
