LanQua originally referred to the Language Network for Quality Assurance, a European higher-education project that ran from October 2007 to September 2010. The project brought together a large network of institutions and educators to examine quality in language education and to create a shared toolkit for reflection and improvement.
What the original project focused on
The work was organised around five thematic areas: content and language integrated learning (CLIL), intercultural communication, language learning, language teacher education, and literature and culture. Across those areas, the common concern was not to prescribe one single teaching model, but to clarify learning outcomes, competence, teaching practice, assessment and quality enhancement.
What this relaunch does
The current site preserves the historical subject structure and important legacy URLs because those pages remain useful reference points in academic and educational literature. At the same time, the presentation has been modernised and the material is being rewritten so it can be read as an independent educational resource rather than as the website of an active consortium.
Where a page describes the former project, it is labelled as historical context. Where a page expands a topic for current readers, it is presented as new editorial material. This distinction is intentional.
