Quality Model

The LanQua Quality Model can be used as a simple cycle for improving language education rather than as a fixed compliance checklist.

A practical quality cycle

  1. Purpose. Clarify the intended learning experience and outcomes.
  2. Design. Align teaching, learning activities, support and assessment.
  3. Practice. Observe what students and teachers actually experience.
  4. Evidence. Collect feedback and examples of learning.
  5. Reflection. Compare evidence with the intended outcomes.
  6. Enhancement. Make specific changes and review their effects.
Historical note: The former LanQua site presented a Quality Model as one of four toolkit components. This page preserves that function while using new explanatory wording.

Questions for programme teams

  • Are learning outcomes clear to students and teachers?
  • Do learning activities make those outcomes achievable?
  • Does assessment measure what the programme claims to value?
  • Are student and teacher feedback used as evidence rather than as a formality?
  • Can the programme explain what changed as a result of reflection?
